Board of Directors

  • Dennis Hodges - President

I grew up with Chris as my older brother and as brothers do, we had some ups and downs. We ended up at the same college and became friends and he even brought me soup when I got sick sometimes, that is the kind of person he was. I ‘ve realized that he was the north star to many more people he crossed paths with. I take great pride in being the President of this nonprofit, and am honored to give out scholarships in his name as well as helping to continue his legacy.

  • Karen Hodges – Secretary / Treasurer

My name is Karen Hodges and I am mother to Chris. I could go on and on, as a mother would about their children, but I won’t do that. Chris was a kind, gentle man with a great heart for others. He wanted to make certain that you were happy, and you were getting what you needed. His passion was baseball. He played, he coached it, he read about it, he watched movies about it. His job was a college baseball coach. He coached everything from little league to college and loved every single minute of every day that he did it.

You can imagine how tragic it was for us when he was killed in 2016. But we made the decision that after all of the messages, and emails and texts we received that we needed to keep his legacy going for as long as possible. So, we decided to start this nonprofit in honor of him. Our greatest job right now is to make sure that we live by his motto:

LIVE LIFE LIKE A 3-1 COUNT

  • Matt Wild

My name is Matt Wild. I am an elementary teacher in Bozeman, MT. My wife Kristin and I have three kids who all live life like a 3-1 count.

Hodge was a brother to me. We grew up doing everything together. This continued past college where he recruited me to MT to coach baseball with him. He was one of my best men at my wedding and one of the best men I knew. His laugh, his sense of humor and his way of life live on. I'm proud to be serving on the board in his honor.

  • Bill Wiley

Born and raised in Jackson Hole. 50 year native, and played baseball at Mateosky field in the late 70’s/early 80’s. I had the privilege of teaching Chris in 6th grade and coaching him in baseball, football, basketball and track. Chris was a member of one of the greatest baseball teams I have ever coached, and was one of my best friends. Chris also was a volunteer member of my JHHS Bronc Football Staff.

Chris taught many young people the value of living life one day at a time, and chasing your dreams no matter how grand they are!

  • Nicholas Houfek

Greetings, I'm Nicholas Houfek, residing in Jackson, Wyoming, alongside my wife, daughter, and three beloved dogs. Wyoming is not just my birthplace but the landscape that shaped me. Growing up, I was fortunate to be closely connected to Chris and the Hodges family; Chris's father, Gary, is my mother's first cousin.

The values of Wyoming and the profound influence of the Hodges family, particularly Chris, have significantly molded my character. The Hodges epitomize the epitome of 'salt of the earth' authenticity, and Chris stands out as a unique individual.

It's a genuine honor to serve on this board, dedicated to perpetuating the ethos of 'living on a 3-1 count.' I'm committed to imparting Chris's spirit onto future generations, ensuring his legacy endures.

Thank you for this opportunity to contribute to our shared mission.
